Ana Cancian is a psychotherapist in supervised practice, registered as a qualifying member with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. Ana completed her MA in Psychology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. Her Masters research focused on adapting DBT Skills Training for individuals with emotional dysregulation and obesity and was the first DBT Skills Training clinical trial conducted in Brazil. Ana’s clinical research on DBT has been presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Ana received intensive training in DBT and DBT-PE by post-doctoral fellows of Dr. Marsha Linehan. She has experience providing DBT in research settings, inpatient and outpatient services and private practice.
Ana is passionate about providing effective and evidence-based therapy in a style that is compassionate, client-centred and non-judgmental. Ana provides treatment for adults with borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders, suicidal and self-injurious behaviours, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, interpersonal difficulties, emotional dysregulation and trauma. She has experience working with clients belonging to LGBTQ* communities and focuses on providing culturally sensitive treatment to all clients. Ana can provide services in English and Portuguese.
