Shelby Maguire is a clinical social worker registered with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (OCSWSSW), and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Shelby received Masters in Social Work from The University of Toronto, where completed a clinical specialization in health and mental health practice. Early in her clinical career, Shelby was involved in instituting community DBT-informed programs for adults who were struggling with mental health difficulties and involved with the criminal justice system. Since then, she has had the opportunity to provide individual DBT therapy and skills groups for adults diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, as well as running Family Skills Therapy (DBT-FST) their loved ones. She has experience facilitating DBT in both community and hospital settings. She is also experienced in, but not limited to, treating adult clients engaging in self-harm and suicidal behaviors, struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, disordered eating, substance abuse and other impulsive behaviors.
Shelby is passionate about providing effective, evidence-based treatment to clients in a compassionate, culturally sensitive and non-judgmental way. Shelby is experienced in working with clients belonging to LGBTQ* communities.
