Dr. Spice (He/Him) is a clinical adult and adolescent psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and one of just a few Canadian DBT-Linehan Board of Certification Certified Clinicians™. Dr. Spice has extensive experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and was trained by several post-doctoral fellows of Dr. Marsha Linehan (creator of DBT). He has provided DBT in private practice, hospitals, and community mental health clinics, and established one of the first private adolescent DBT programs in Ontario. In addition to directly treating clients with complex mental health needs, Dr. Spice also provides supervision and consultation on DBT to clinicians and community agencies. His clinical research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at international academic conferences. Dr. Spice received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology (Law-Forensic specialization) from Simon Fraser University, and completed his predoctoral residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in the Borderline Personality Disorder and Sexual Behaviour Clinics. Dr. Spice provides treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harm and suicidal behaviours, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, antisocial behaviours, and sexual behaviour problems. He treats adolescents (aged 14 and older) and adults, and is experienced in working with clients belonging to LGBTQ* communities.
